The shoe is comfortable, but only for short rides, The lugs on the undersole started to wear down and detach within months of purchase. The shoes were replaced on the warranty, but I have not yet used the new ones. Remains to be seen whether that will be a recurring problem. I am a newbie mtber of 2 yrs, and I found those more than adequate for my second set of shoes ( I had Katans before). The major issue I have with the shoe is because the lone boa to secure fit of the entire foot, the long wire only gets tight close to the boa mechanism itself. As the ride progresses and the wire gradually adjusts the tightness over the whole foot, it becomes looser, hence me having to retighten it mid-ride. On longer rides, this constant re-tightening translates into eventually cutting circulation off and getting a tingling feeling in my toes. On colder days, it's makes matters worse, as my feet got cold almost immediately. It would benefit from adding a Velcro strap on top of the foot, to provide a more secure fit without having to constantly re-tighten the boa and cutting off circulation. In general, it's a nice shoe for most recreational riders that want something affordable. However, if you're a more serious rider, I would recommend spending a few more $$ and stepping up to a Cambion or XXX.
